The quick answer
Original Oligio and Thermage FLX both use 6.78 MHz monopolar RF. Oligio is a useful lower-price option to discuss in Korea, but sharing a frequency does not make the machines or results identical. Its 30-person clinical study supports possible improvement after treatment; it did not compare Oligio with Thermage. A higher Thermage price is not proof of better results either.
At a glance
| What matters | Original Oligio | Thermage FLX |
|---|---|---|
| Energy | 6.78 MHz monopolar RF | 6.78 MHz monopolar RF |
| Version check | Oligio is distinct from Oligio X | Confirm FLX rather than an older Thermage generation |
| Evidence discussed | 30-person cohort, six-month follow-up | Longer device-family history; version-specific evidence matters |
| Price unit below | 300 shots | 600 shots |
| What remains unproven here | Equivalent results, comfort or longevity to FLX | A result advantage proportional to the higher price |

Same frequency is only part of the specification
The original Oligio study describes a 6.78 MHz RF device with temperature, contact and impedance checks and cooling. Thermage FLX also uses 6.78 MHz. Applicators, feedback systems, energy delivery and the doctor's technique still differ.
Oligio's US submission names Thermage FLX as a predicate device. That regulatory comparison is not a patient trial proving equal lifting results. Do not turn 'substantially equivalent' in a device submission into a promise that your outcome will match Thermage.

What Oligio's human study showed
A prospective cohort treated 30 Thai participants with mild-to-moderate lower-face laxity and Fitzpatrick skin types III–V. After one treatment, two blinded dermatologists assessed photographs over six months. Most improvements were mild to moderate. There was no Thermage control group.
The protocol used topical anaesthetic and about 412 shots on average. Redness commonly resolved within one to two days in this group. These findings should not be converted into a guarantee for a 300-shot event package, a different face, or Oligio X.

When the lower-cost option may make sense
Our editorial take: Oligio deserves a consultation if your budget is limited and the doctor can justify a complete plan for your concern. Compare the actual area and protocol rather than assuming cheaper means weak or unsafe. Thermage deserves consideration if the clinician's experience with FLX, proposed plan and follow-up justify its premium to you.
Neither a shared frequency nor a premium brand tells you what an individual operator will deliver. Ask how the clinic sets expectations and documents change. Standardized photographs at a sensible follow-up are more useful than an immediate photo affected by lighting or swelling.

Oligio, Oligio X and the cost of a course
Wontech markets Oligio X as a separate platform. A clinic offering X should quote that version explicitly; the original Oligio benchmark below is not a verified X price. Similarly, an Oligio study does not automatically validate every upgraded feature.
Ask how many visits the doctor proposes and why. A small first-session price is not the complete course cost if several repeats are being sold. Confirm VAT, tip, numbing, area and whether the same doctor will review your result.

Current Seoul prices to compare
These are research options, not a personal treatment plan. Prices are medians of Korean event listings for the stated quantity; eligibility and extras vary. Read the price conditions.
These quantities describe different treatment plans. A shot or line is not a standardized dose across devices: area, cartridge, energy, depth and passes matter. Compare itemised totals for the same clinical goal, rather than dividing the price by the shot count.
Original Oligio, 300 shots: an entry quantity, not an Oligio X quote.
Thermage, 600 shots: a different quantity and protocol.
Questions to take to the clinic
- Is this original Oligio, Oligio X or Thermage FLX?
- What area and protocol do these quantities cover on my face?
- Why do you recommend this device rather than the other?
- What would the proposed repeat visits cost in total?
- What result would count as successful, and when will you assess it?
Common questions
Is Oligio the same as Thermage?
They share a frequency and belong to the monopolar RF category, but the systems and protocols are distinct. Oligio's predicate-device submission is not a clinical proof of identical outcomes.
Does cheaper Oligio mean better value?
It may fit your budget, but value depends on the complete treatment plan and realistic expected benefit. The 300-shot and 600-shot benchmarks are not matched doses.
Can I use an Oligio price for Oligio X?
No. Get an explicit X quote and confirm the treatment area, quantity and extras. This page's live benchmark is for original Oligio.
Sources and scope
This is sourced editorial research, not a hands-on treatment review or an independent clinical trial. Device specifications and manufacturer claims are distinguished from human study findings. Study size, protocol and comparison groups limit what can be concluded. The practical trade-offs labelled as our editorial take are interpretations, not proven superiority. Medical suitability and travel clearance require the treating clinician's assessment.
