Volnewmer vs Thermage in Korea: same RF frequency, different plans

Compare Volnewmer with Thermage FLX: cooling, device versions, published research, a registered CPT trial and the limits of Seoul price comparisons.

Reviewed · Glow Lab editorial research

The quick answer

Volnewmer and Thermage FLX are external monopolar RF systems using 6.78 MHz. Sharing a frequency does not make them identical treatments. Volnewmer uses continuous water cooling; Thermage has its own delivery and comfort system. Compare the exact model, tip, area and protocol. Volnewmer has published human studies, but a registered comparison against Thermage CPT is not evidence that it beats Thermage FLX.

Same frequency is the beginning of the comparison

Classys specifies continuous water cooling, impedance detection and different Volnewmer tips for different areas. Thermage FLX uses 6.78 MHz monopolar RF with its own delivery system. A common frequency does not standardize energy, coverage, cooling or the clinician's technique.

Our editorial take: a Volnewmer quote can be worth discussing when the doctor explains the treatment plan and its trade-offs clearly. A Thermage quote can be worth discussing when the provider's experience and proposed FLX protocol justify the cost. Neither brand name substitutes for those explanations.

Published Volnewmer evidence is more than a brochure

A 2024 study followed 30 Korean women and measured facial lifting across several areas using 3D analysis, immediately after treatment and at one month. It reported improvement, but there was no Thermage control arm. The study's protocol also included stem-cell media application, which matters when interpreting the treatment package.

That is human research, with limited follow-up and a specific population and protocol. It does not establish comparative durability, a pain advantage or a better result than FLX. Ask whether the doctor's proposed treatment resembles the study being cited, including any accompanying intervention.

There is a comparison trial — read the model name

ClinicalTrials.gov record NCT06657365 describes a Classys-sponsored randomized, evaluator-blinded non-inferiority trial of Volnewmer versus Thermage CPT for facial wrinkles. On our 3 October 2026 check, its status was completed, but the registry had no posted results.

Registration describes a research question; it does not tell us the answer. CPT is also not FLX. Until the relevant findings can be assessed, this record cannot support 'Volnewmer is proven better than FLX'. Non-inferiority, if established for a particular endpoint, would not mean superiority for every goal.

Cooling is a feature, not a pain guarantee

Classys markets its cooling as reducing discomfort, while Thermage describes its own comfort features. These are manufacturer descriptions. The sources summarized here do not provide a matched patient-level pain comparison between a Seoul Volnewmer plan and a Seoul FLX plan.

Ask what sensation to expect, what comfort options are appropriate and when treatment should pause. Ask about adverse effects and follow-up too; an external applicator does not make thermal treatment risk-free. Share previous procedures and discuss how much recovery uncertainty your trip can accommodate.

The useful price question is 'what is included?'

A headline discount can hide a smaller area, a different tip or a package with a different visit count. Ask for the exact model, tip authenticity, treated area, quantity, VAT and follow-up. Do not assume equal shot counts deliver equal treatment across platforms.

Glow Lab has a Thermage 600-shot benchmark below but no verified Volnewmer median. Without a matched Volnewmer dataset, we cannot supply a reliable percentage saving or value winner. Compare written totals for clinically justified plans, including any repeat visit, before treating the cheaper headline as the cheaper course.

Shots and ultrasound lines are not interchangeable doses. Match the device version, treated area, tip or cartridge, number of visits and final total. Glow Lab has no verified XERF or Volnewmer median yet; the available benchmark below is context for the named treatment only.

Questions to take to the clinic

  1. Is the quoted Thermage model FLX or CPT?
  2. Which tip, treatment area and quantity does each plan include?
  3. Why does this RF protocol suit my concern and previous treatment history?
  4. Does the cited comparison have published results, and does it concern this model?
  5. What is the total course price, comfort plan and follow-up arrangement?

Common questions

Is Volnewmer a cheaper Thermage?

It is a different monopolar RF platform, not an identical treatment with a new label. Glow Lab does not yet have a verified Volnewmer price median, so we cannot establish a matched saving. Compare complete written plans.

Has Volnewmer been compared with Thermage?

The registered NCT06657365 trial compares it with Thermage CPT. It was marked completed without posted registry results when checked on 3 October 2026. That record does not establish superiority over Thermage FLX.

Does water cooling make Volnewmer painless?

No such guarantee follows from the cooling specification. Classys describes a comfort benefit, but your experience depends on the treatment plan and individual factors. Ask the treating clinician about comfort and possible adverse effects.

Sources and scope

This is sourced editorial research, not a hands-on treatment review or an independent clinical trial. Device specifications and manufacturer claims are distinguished from human study findings. Study size, protocol and comparison groups limit what can be concluded. The practical trade-offs labelled as our editorial take are interpretations, not proven superiority. Medical suitability and travel clearance require the treating clinician's assessment.
