3 sessions × ₩192,500, lasting about 9 months. Scar and texture gains held through the 3–6 month follow-ups in trials, and clinics suggest a top-up session every 9–12 months.
Uses this week's Seoul median and the typical duration from studies. Other treatments use their midpoint duration and usual first course.
Redness and a pinpoint grid last 1–2 days, with tiny scabs for up to about 5 days, so plan on 1–3 visible days.
Skin is warm and flushed, with a faint grid of pinpoint marks from the needles. A few tiny dots of blood are possible.

Day 1 or 2 of your trip, so the redness and pinpoint grid have settled before the rest of your sightseeing photos.
At least 1–2 full days, more if you're sensitive to redness. Flying itself is fine.
One session is a good introduction, especially for pores. For acne scars, expect to need a course of 3–5 sessions, so plan Potenza as a repeat Seoul treatment or split it between trips.
Very often paired with an exosome treatment or skin booster in the same visit, using the pumping tip to push the product deeper right after the RF pass.
Potenza heats the skin through fine needles and leaves only tiny entry points, and in a 2026 trial RF microneedling caused fewer dark marks than fractional CO2. That makes it more season-tolerant than Fraxel: autumn and winter are easiest, but summer is workable with strict SPF.
This week's median across 35 Seoul clinic listings is about ₩192,500 for a full-face session, with a range of ₩108,900–₩548,900. In the US a session typically runs US$1,000–1,500.
For pores and general texture, many clinics recommend a course of 3 sessions about 4–6 weeks apart. Acne scars usually need more, often 3–5 sessions, since rebuilding dermal volume takes repeated stimulation.
Topical numbing cream is applied first, but most people still feel warmth, pressure and prickling, more over bony areas or at deeper settings.
RF microneedling generally carries a lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation than ablative lasers like fractional CO2, especially with insulated needles and lower energy settings. Tell the doctor your skin type so they can adjust the settings.
Texture can look better within a week as redness settles, but the fuller effect on pores and scars builds over about 3 months as new collagen forms, and after finishing the recommended course.
Fractional CO2 laser tends to give slightly stronger scar improvement but comes with more pain, more downtime and a meaningfully higher risk of pigmentation problems, especially on darker skin. Potenza's RF microneedling trades a little efficacy for an easier recovery and a better safety margin.
All three combine microneedles with RF energy. Morpheus8 needles go deeper and are often chosen for jawline or body contouring. Sylfirm X can pulse its RF energy and is often used for redness and tone as well as texture. Potenza's four RF modes and interchangeable tips, including one built for drug delivery, make it a flexible all-rounder.
| Potenza (RF microneedling) | Fraxel/CO2 fractional | Morpheus8/Sylfirm X | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Microneedles carrying RF heat into the dermis | Laser light resurfacing the skin surface and below | Other RF microneedling devices, deeper or wave-tuned |
| Best known for | Pores, mild-to-moderate scars, texture, drug delivery | Stronger scar and texture improvement | Morpheus8: deeper fat/contour; Sylfirm X: tone, redness |
| Downtime | 24–48 hours redness, maybe light flaking | About a week or more, ablative types longer | Similar to Potenza: 2–3 days redness |
| Pain | Moderate with numbing | Usually higher: about 2 points worse on a 0–10 scale in a 2026 meta-analysis, though a large Thai study found RF microneedling hurt more | Moderate, similar to Potenza |
| PIH risk (darker skin) | Lower with correct settings | About 4x higher risk in a meta-analysis of scar trials | Similar to Potenza when settings are matched to skin tone |

RF microneedling does two things at once: the needles create the same controlled micro-injuries as regular microneedling, and they also act as tiny electrodes that carry radiofrequency energy to a chosen depth in the dermis. The heat encourages the body to break down old collagen and rebuild it.
Potenza's needles switch between four RF modes (monopolar or bipolar, at 1MHz or 2MHz) and several tip types: an N tip that heats the whole needle length for a fuller effect, an insulated tip that concentrates heat only near the needle tip and spares the surface (used for scars), and a pumping tip that adds air pressure to push a topical, such as an exosome solution or a skin booster, further into the dermis.
The device was cleared by the FDA in February 2020 as the first four-mode RF microneedling system, for electrocoagulation and hemostasis in dermatologic and general surgical procedures. Its cosmetic uses (texture, scars, blemishes) rest on that clearance plus clinical studies.
A 2026 meta-analysis of 8 mostly randomised trials comparing fractional CO2 laser with microneedling radiofrequency for acne scars found the CO2 laser gave slightly better scar improvement and satisfaction, but with about 4.4 times the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, roughly 2 points more pain on a 0–10 scale, and nearly 2 extra days of redness. That trade-off is a big part of why RF microneedling, including Potenza, is often preferred for patients with darker or pigment-prone skin.
Reviews of RF microneedling in Fitzpatrick skin types III–VI report a low rate of hyperpigmentation when insulated needles and lower energy settings are used, because insulation limits how much heat reaches the melanocyte-rich surface layer.
